c1890 hand-carved flying fish souvenir from Pitcairn Island, made from Miro wood.
These items are crafted by the descendants of the HMS Bounty mutineers who settled on the island.
The carvings are highly collectible and were created as souvenirs for trade with passing ships.
This fish has the characteristic open mouth with teeth.
All in very good condition, a very nice example. Certainly has signs of age and use all over but nothing serious.
