This is a Royal Doulton "Authors and Inns" series ware jug, also known as a pitcher, featuring Sir Walter Raleigh and "Ye Queen's Head" Inn.
The jug is part of an early and rare series that also includes authors Geoffrey Chaucer and Oliver Goldsmith.
It is an Art Nouveau-style piece, dating to c1910.
The jug is made of pottery with an underglaze blue transfer print.
