Chinese zitan wood brush pot, also known as a bitong. 
The pot is finely carved with a continuous scene of lotus flowers, leaves, and pods. 
It is made from zitan, a dense and heavy, dark hardwood highly valued in Chinese decorative arts. 
Brush pots were essential items for a Chinese scholar's desk, used to hold writing brushes for calligraphy and painting.
