Zuckerman helmet, a piece of World War II British Home Front equipment. Officially designated as the Civilian Protective Helmet, it was manufactured to provide head protection for civil defense workers and the general public during the Blitz. letters "FG" stencilled on the front & back stand for Fire Guard.
Fire Guards were part of a compulsory scheme where small teams monitored their local areas for incendiary bombs and other secondary fire threats after air raids always carrying a stirrup pump.
The helmet is in very good original condition with the liner, stamped & dated 1941.
